De Anza Appliance Earns Preferred Service Provider Status with Electrolux and Frigidaire

De Anza Appliance earns the Preferred Service Provider with Electrolux and Frigidaire for warranty support and appliance repair for their brands in the Greater San Jose Metropolitan area, Santa Clara County, and parts of Alameda and San Mateo County. Recently Electrolux’s team needed extended partnership in the Bay Area’s Peninsula area and expanded cities to include Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, Emerald Hills, Foster City, Hillsborough Menlo Park, Millbrae, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Mateo, and Woodside.

Preferred appliance service status allows De Anza Appliance to warranty appliance repair appointments directly from clients for Electrolux and Frigidaire warranty in service markets stretching from San Bruno and Union City to the Los Gatos city limits and Gilroy during the initial manufacturer’s warranty. Normally most appliance warranty repairs need to be logged with a manufacturer’s centralized call center. 

To schedule Electrolux or Frigidaire first year warranty repair, clients just need to provide proof of purchase to their dispatcher prior to scheduling or allow the appliance technician to photograph on the day of the appointment.. Valid proof of appliance purchases could include a sales receipt or delivery receipt. If a client just purchased or moved into a residence, escrow, lease agreement documents, or formal letter from a contractor showing completion date of a product also validates Electrolux and Frigidaire warranty. If all else fails the date of manufacture is embedded within the serial code and can use that to establish appliance warranties.

Any mechanical or electrical defect within the appliance is covered for the first year of ownership on most product warranties. Cosmetic damage, customer education, household connections, and installation corrections are covered for the first thirty days of ownership. If there are ever questions about what is or is not covered, clients can refer to their use and care manual or ask De Anza Appliance’s customer dispatch team prior to scheduling.

The County of Santa Clara Health Department in conjunction with six other local health jurisdictions have extended the Shelter in Place Order through June 1, 2020. In addition, San Mateo County, and the cities of Cupertino, Milpitas, and Fremont where De Anza Appliance operates have strict mask in public initiatives. Santa Clara County’s Health Officer, Sara Cody M.D. strongly recommends the use of face masks in public. Technicians will have masks, gloves, and shoe covers available at all times and will wear at the request of any homeowner unless it impedes with the safe diagnostic or repair of an appliance.

In the light of mandatory quarantine operation of residential cooking, laundry, and refrigerator equipment is crucial to maintain home food supplies and personal hygiene and will remain so long as the county, state, and federal jurisdictions allow operations.

The County of Santa Clara Health Department in conjunction with six other local health jurisdictions have extended the Shelter in Place order through May 3, 2020. In addition to the extension they have asked for greater vigilance in social distancing practices among retail and other essential businesses that remain open.

De Anza Appliance outlined in March 23, 2020 and March 19, 2020 press releases we are taking proactive action to keep our clients and associates safe.

In addition the following new precautions are adopted effective immediately.

  • De Anza Appliance is continuing to order and back-order additional cleaning materials and personal protective equipment through all possible vendors.
  • Executive and customer service staff are working from home with only 2-3 managers on-site daily to receive and distribute inventory and courier materials to other staffers.
  • Technicians and remaining on-site managers meet outside practicing social distancing when in-person meetings required and use Facetime, G-Mail, Google Chat, Phone, and Text whenever possible.
  • Signage directing customers to our website and phone number for Corona Virus updates are posted on the front and back doors.
  • Delivery drivers are to announce themselves in the front lobby and leave packages without signature requests.
  • The lobby is closed for customers but can drop ship parts for do-it-yourself repairs at a nominal fee or direct to a national distributor for direct drop ship options.
  • Office hours are now 8:00am to 2:00pm to allow team members to run essential errands in the afternoon hours.
  • Temperature tests for technicians when they check in the office.

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, announced via executive order Thursday March 19th, 2020 that the state will be under quarantine effective immediately. Per his press conference and executive Californian businesses should follow the National Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce. Per the Public Health portion of the document, “Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operations of residences.”

De Anza Appliance outlined in a March 19, 2020 press release we are taking proactive action to keep our clients and associates safe.

In addition the following new precautions are adopted effective immediately.

  • De Anza Appliance has procured disposable gloves to use whenever possible and requested.
  • Practice social distancing during daily staff meetings to update on operations and local, state, and federal COVID-19 news.
  • Treat any community laundry room features like commonly touched knobs, buttons, door handles, and other publicly touched items with extra care and sanitation before and after repair and entrance and exit to the room.
  • Discontinuing general maintenance services only calls to allow capacity for appliances repairs particularly downed cooking appliances, flooding appliances, and not cooling refrigerators.

Keeping our clients and associates safe is paramount in this unprecedented time. For transparency we want to share with you steps De Anza Appliance takes in response to the Coronavrius.

  • Educated associates about the symptoms of the virus and methods to limit exposure and transmission provided by the Santa Clara County Public Health and the Central for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • De Anza Appliance have procured extra sanitizing products (alcohol based hand, solutions, wipes, and disinfectant sprays) for use in the office for high traffic areas, clients homes for appliances, and for associate’s personal use.
  • If a client sounds or feels ill on the phone or at the threshold of the home we would respectfully ask to reschedule to ensure our associates aren’t a vector to transmit illnesses to at-risk populations we’re in contact with.
  • De Anza Appliance requires sanitation of associate’s hands prior to entering a new home or facility, using the restroom, or eating and again at the completion of work or breaks.
  • Resist associates touching face, hands, eyes, or mouth unless immediately after sanitation.
  • Request no shaking of hands and recommend social distancing of six or more feet between associates and clients when possible.
  • Wipe down of appliances, tools, tool bags and work areas prior to starting for our associates safety and after for your safety.
  • If associates feels ill for any reason we request them to stay home for two days, if no improvement call their primary care physician for advise in next steps or quarantine protocol (current recommendation is 14 days).
  • Associates may use any type of paid time off (bereavement, sick leave or vacation) to cover any missed time during the pandemic for any reason. Depending on seniority or accrual that could be as much as 21 days. Management will assist in filling with Employment Development Department for benefits for any employee requiring extended leaves of absence or absences that exceed paid time off due to personal or immediate family quarantine or illness with doctor’s notice.

We want to proactively thank the clients who recommended rescheduling who are exhibiting symptoms and understand their hardships with failed appliances with their self quarantine measures.

Appliance repair is especially crucial when in light of increased needs of sanitation and social distancing is of the utmost importance to keep cleaning (dishwasher, clothes dryer and washer) preparing food (cooktop, microwave, range and wall oven) and preserving food (freezer and refrigerator). So long as Govern Newsom, President Trump, the CDC, and Santa Clara County Public allows operation, De Anza Appliance will be available for scheduling appliance repair service.

Currently the 7 counties constituting the San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Clara County, and Greater San Jose Municipal area released a statement for a Health Ordinance which includes a Shelter in Place Health Clause. Per section 10.f.ix for plumbers and electricians and xii. for laundromats, dry cleaners, and laundry service providers are exempt appliance repair falls within the scope of both categories.

Our thoughts and prayers go to all of the first response and medical providers, grocers, and trades people that will keep open to ensure critical services and food are delivered to our counties.

De Anza Appliance Moves to Santa Clara

Updated 8/6/20 De Anza Appliance’s transitions to their new home on Scott Boulevard in Santa Clara’s Oakmead business district. De Anza Appliance closed their Maytag Home Appliance Center retail store and parts counter in Cupertino on De Anza Boulevard in 2004, refocusing on core appliance repair business. Business shifted to Cupertino’s Civic Center neighborhood. At 2,000 square feet the new location affords De Anza Appliance twice the office space from the Cupertino location. Extra room allows stocking of fast-moving parts to improve the goal of first-time completed jobs. Extra elbow space also allows for the future expansion of office staff and parking for the growing service fleet. The new, centralized locality and access to Central Expressway, Lawrence Expressway, 101, and 237 provides easier access to San Jose to  accommodate more same-day service requests when available. Owner’s Roger and Cindy Boucher brought their son, Chris, on board in 2011 to reinvigorate marketing, recruit new staff, and spearhead business development. In 2015 Senior Technician Peter MacConnell was promoted to Training Manager with the goal to transition to Service Manager. Added leadership grew the service team’s capacity and customer demand for service at it’s highest peaks in over a decade. Late 2017 hiring goals include bringing on several experienced appliance service technicians. In 2018 De Anza Appliance rehired JR Lara as parts manager to take over from departing Vice President David Schick. Today De Anza Appliance is seeking experienced technicians.
